Solomon Islands warmly welcomes you to the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts website.
From 1 to 14 July 2012, thousands of artists and performers from around the region will gather in our capital city, Honiara, for the Pacific’s largest, most colourful and exciting cultural event.
The 2012 programme includes a wide range of traditional and contemporary visual and performing arts – music, dance, oratory and story telling, theatre and film, handicrafts, literature, tattooing, fire walking, culinary arts, navigation and canoeing, fashion, photography and healing.
The Festival of Pacific Arts is held only once every four years. We hope you can join us in 2012.
Kaleko Barava Na Fashion Weekend is now calling for registrations. The event is open to all Solomon Island citizens or residents.
The Fashion Weekend will be held on 28 - 29 April and there will be plenty of fun and entertainment for everyone! The winners and runners-up of each of the three categories (National Dress, Streetwear/Daywear and Evening Wear) will receive significant prizes and be invited to represent the Solomon Islands during FOPA fashion events. Entry forms and information sheets can be collected at the Festival Office, located inside the National Museum grounds. Note: there is a registration fee of $100 that must be paid on application.
The Council of Pacific Arts and Culture under the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) will be coming from the 27th- 29th March to check on Festival progress, including accommodation and performance/exhibition venues.
Work continue on upgrading accommodation for delegates. KGVI will undergo significant renovations to make the boarding houses suitable, which will be of significant long term benefit to the school.
